Out Now: Redesign Everything
Finding my voice and perspective on climate and the economy
For years I’ve been searching for my professional voice on issues such as climate change, privacy invasion, and endless wars. To me these issues are all symptoms of interrelated systemic problems. But observed and addressed one by one in a blog or on social media, I felt like the overarching story was lost. Often I felt as though I was shouting into a void, a dark void. In person friends would tell me they loved my optimism but I found it difficult to translate that optimism into writing especially when covering heavy topics. The issue of the moment would take precedence and the result over time was an impassioned string of responses to the world without a clear through line. But I don’t want to respond to a path laid down by someone else, I wanted to lead with intention down my own path. I wanted a way to channel that energy constructively.
Enter: Redesign Everything. I wrote the name and idea down in a note years ago as an idea for a podcast that centered on solutions rather than problems. A show that framed the breadth of subject matter through a lens that enabled my audience to see connections and feel empowered to act on them. That lens is system design, and that’s what the show Redesign Everything is all about. Looking at the world as a designer and saying “we can do better, here’s how”.
The first episode is out now, which is just an introduction. I’d love to hear from you about what topics you’d like to see covered through the perspective of intentional system redesign so please, don’t hesitate to reach out.
